How to Reach (IHCAE)

Chemchey is a pristine village situated in South Sikkim,India. It falls under the Namchi sub-division. The local people are extremely welcoming & friendly. The nearest town is Namchi.

Foreigners visiting Chemchey, Sikkim require an Indian visa. In addition to an Indian visa, they must obtain Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit Sikkim. The permits can be obtained from all Indian missions, Tourism Office, New Delhi, Sikkim Tourism Office, Calcutta and Sikkim Tourism Office, Siliguri on the strength of an Indian Visa.


The closest Indian Airport is Bagdogra, 121 kms away from Chemchey. Scheduled flights operate to and from Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati and Bangalore. Taxi cabs can be availed at reasonable fares from the airport itself.


The closest rail station is at New Jalpaiguri(NJP) which is around 91 kms away from Namchi. It is a 12 minute route from Namchi to IHCAE Chemchey. It is connected to Kolkata, New Delhi, Guwahati and other major Indian cities.


Private Taxis, Jeeps and Buses ply regularly on the Chemchey - Namchi - Siliguri Highway. You may also contact & reserve the taxis from Tourist Department, Govt. of West Bengal, and Sikkim for local sightseeing at fixed rates.

For more than 30 persons arrangements can be made to pick up the group from the Railway Station or the Airport by the institute's bus which must be arranged well in advance on payment.
